Home Theater Set Up Tips

Your dream of an ultimate home theater to impress your friends and family will now be fulfilled. Setting up a home theater on a tight budget can be a difficult task; however, with the right knowledge and guidance it’s possible to have the perfect setup. In order to make your project successful it is recommended to follow the below mentioned points.

Room / Space: Setting up a home theater is difficult unless you have the right space for it. A lot of space is required in designing this and so you will need a large room to meet your needs. Usually people select basement or garage which is an advantage as it keeps away the excess sound from the rest of the house.

Projector and Screen: The best thing would be is to purchase a projector ceiling mount and run the cabling through the ceiling. If the setup is in a place where the ceiling hasn’t been finished, this will make routing cables extremely easy.

Sound: Many a times we notice that the quality of sound is not up to the mark. Mostly it happens when the speakers are placed where there is space available, not where they would sound the best. One of the most important step is to setup your sound system. If it’s an unfinished ceiling this will be super easy. If not, then cabling will be a little more challenging.

All speakers should be at approximately head height when you’re sitting, facing your listening position. You want the front two speakers and the center-channel speaker to be about the same distance from your listening position, although you can raise your speaker levels to compensate if you can’t make that happen in your room. Surround speakers should be on either side of your listening position and rear surrounds should be behind your listening position on either side. You can place the subwoofer almost anywhere, because large bass sound waves can fill the room from any angle.

Seating Arrangement: This is an important step and it is really up to you. Many people buy movie theater seats to create a theatrical feel while others opt for comfortable chairs or even just a couch. Lazy boy recliners may provide awesome seating experience but a disadvantage where you can not accommodate more people than the confirmed. Hence it is advisable to have a large couch and a few extra chairs to make up the numbers.

The above mentioned are some of the important points to be kept in mind for setting up a home theater.
