Isobrane-UV is a rugged outdoor grade Mass Loaded Vinyl with high tensile strength, UV resistance and water resistance, making it immune to sun and rain. It is used for outdoor applications. Isobrane-UV is a unique, heavy-mineral filled, barium free, visco-elastic acoustical material that is made in Russia, Indonesia & India. Unlike fences or shrubs, this material does extraordinarily well in blocking direct sound, and a unique characteristic of the material sets it apart from other sound barriers when dealing with very low frequencies, especially construction noise and heavy traffic noise.
Scientific Principle
In frequencies of 50Hz and below, the heavy limp mass of Isobrane-UV actually begins to vibrate from low frequency sound waves. In essence it is transforming these low frequency sound waves into mechanical movement and internal friction energy. Laboratory tests indicate that this transformation process inhibits these lower frequencies from penetrating Isobrane-UV, reducing their level by over 60 percent relative to the human ear. In addition, Isobrane-UV becomes an absorbent material in these frequencies with test results show an NRC (noise reduction coefficient) as high as 0.78 (with 1.00 being the max). As such it is clear that Isobrane-UV not only reduces sound as a barrier, but also acts as an acoustical absorbent material in very low frequencies, as opposed to reflecting those
frequencies back like most other barriers. This is the magic of unconstrained layer damping.

Isobrane-UV is 2mm thick and comes in standard sizes of 1.8m x 100m. You can also order custom lengths and if your project involves greater heights, Isobrane-UV can be installed vertically rather than horizontally.
Isobrane-UV has an acoustical performance of upto STC40, based on the selected model and method of installation. It is worth noting that the level of attenuation of all outdoor barriers is affected by a variety of factors including end diffraction, angle of diffraction, wind direction, humidity and temperature.
